About

SIX Updater is a very useful tool that allows you to find servers, download the addons in use by that server and then join the server (this can also be added to a shortcut on your desktop).
Rusty In Places is now using this tool to download the mods required for our servers as it allows for less downloading due to it using delta patching.

STEAM game owners pay attention

STEAM USERS:
Please ensure that you have run both ArmA2 and OA seperately at least once through the Steam launcher to create the registry entries required to run the game correctly before continuing.
If in the future you have issues, rerun the process.

Download and install SIX updater

First download Six Updater and install. Click HERE to download
Everytime you start SIX updater it will check for auto-update (after update you may need to restart the program)

Update mods to be SIX Updater compatible

To update the mods to be SIX compatible (when they are Brown):
  • 'Right-click' on the mod (or you can do this on the preset for all mods in one go)
  • Select 'Updater actions'
  • Select 'Convert to SixUpdater'
The local mod files will now be converted to SIX updater compatible files and will then need to be checked for version.

Set game launch parameters

To set your game launching parameters:
  • Select the 'Game Profile' tab
  • Specify a name for the profile (I used 'Standard')
  • Select your 'Game profile name' from the drop-down
  • Specify any startup parameters you require, I recommend:
  • noSplash - Disables splash screens.
  • noPause - Allow the game running even when its window does not have focus (helps prevent BE kicks if you are Alt-Tab out of game).
  • noFilePatching - Ensures that only PBOs are loaded and NO unpacked data.
  • skipIntro - Disables world intros in the main menu.
  • empty - For faster game loading.

Something not working?

No servers/mods etc. showing

Uninstall SIX completely (including any server configs etc.) and reinstall.

Still getting kicked (Mod in use not supported by server)

Synchronise all records again with the SU portal to ensure you have the latest versions and the server requirements haven't changed.
To synchronise:
  • Check if 'Synced' status is red, if yes then it needs to be updated
  • Select the button 'Synchronize all records with the SU portal'
  • Update mods as required.

Turn off the creating a server option :)
If when you try and join the server you start a dedicated server:
